Although one of the later-acquired reservations in southern California, much of the reservation has been removed from its original location. The original site is now occupied by Lake Wohlford and by an organization dedicated to the preservation of nature, the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
Compensatory land is now in five parcels, totaling 1,500 acres, on dry, scrub oak hills east of Valley Center. At least the lake provides the residents with some water that they would not otherwise have had. Indian administration and activities are centered at the Tribal Hall and education center. |
