The Urban Adolescent Prevention Program (UAPP) provides academic, cultural and prevention services to the North San Diego County Urban TANF participants under 18 years of age. The purpose of the UAPP is to meet TANF purposes 3 and 4, which is to prevent and reduce out-of-wedlock pregnancies and to encourage the formation and maintenance of two parent families.
Currently, we are serving students 11-18 years of age in Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad. Academic tutoring is provided to students, Monday-Thursday, at the UAPP Site. Students are also involved in Native youth conferences such as: the Dream the Impossible Conference and the I’m Going to College Conference, the Juvenile Hall Open House Tour and LIVE Virtual Experiences via the internet.
